Obstructive Sleep Apnea(OSA) is the most common form of Sleep Apnea and occurs when the muscles and tissues in the throat and air passage relax while sleeping, and this impedes the flow of air into the lungs due to a blockage of the airway. Obstructive Sleep Apnea is more common than most people realize . If left untreated, OSA has been connected to varies chronic illnesses such as high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease and even Alzheimer’s. OSA has also been directly linked to fatalities by stroke, heart attack and traffic accidents. If OSA is diagnosed through sleep testing, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is most commonly prescribed.
